XLNX - Qualcomm led fabless semiconductor companies in Q1 revenue
Ethan Miller/Getty Images News Qualcomm (QCOM) led the list of top 10 IC design (fabless) companies in Q1 in terms of revenue, according to research firm TrendForce. Qualcomm's revenue was up 53% in the quarter to $6.28B driven by broad-based strength in smartphones, RF, IoT, and automotive. The revenue figure only includes the QCT side of its business. Nvidia (NVDA) took second place with 76% growth to $5.17B, excluding its OEM business. The company overtook Broadcom (AVGO) due to the booming graphics card demand from cryptocurrency mining and the stay-home gaming surge. Brroadcom (AVGO) notched third place with 19% growth to $4.5B for its semiconductor business due to the broadband market strength.
