Active job listings are up yet again, for a 33rd week in a row, UBS says - and that doesn't just give a window into the state of the macro recovery, but also offers some insights into small-cap and mid-cap industrial stocks, with differences getting more discernible across business lines. "Leading edge jobs data continue to support post-COVID secular winners and in turn, a flight to quality as the economic backdrop normalizes and growth becomes increasingly scarce," analyst Chris Snyder writes. One example: While total U.S. job listings are up 41% year-to-date, data processing listings are up 132%, and job listings for electrical component manufacturing are up 116%. And data processing looks even better when realizing that its employment troughed down just 3%, vs. -15% for the overall U.S. total.
