VIACA - Roku ViacomCBS jump as Comcast profile raises prospect of deals
Drew Angerer/Getty Images News Roku (ROKU +4.5%) and ViacomCBS ([[VIAC]] +2.3%, [[VIACA]] +2.2%) are jumping as a Wall Street Journal profile of Comcast (CMCSA -0.8%) CEO Brian Roberts starts questions about his next big deal, raising the specter of a tie-up/acquisition of either company. Roberts has told people close to him that he doesn't feel a need to seek a merger, but a source tells WSJ he is looking at options with those companies as ideas on the table. From a distribution standpoint, Roberts is aiming to make Comcast a rival to Roku and Amazon.com (AMZN) in delivering apps to living rooms just as the cable giant has delivered cable channels - under an plan known inside the company as PlatCo, whereby it would develop smart TVs to appear this year.
