Samsung Display ([[SSNNF]],[[SSNLF]]) will extend production of LCD panels in South Korea after previously saying the production would wrap up by the end of the year to make way for more advanced technologies.The extension for LCD panels for TVs and monitors is in response to the pandemic-driven demand for home entertainment.Global panel demand was up 30% sequentially in Q3, according to TrendForce data. But the firm warned the rush to meet demand could lead to excess inventory next year.Samsung said in October a "short term" extension was possible.The company didn't specify a period of time for the extension and says the timing will depend on profitability and market considerations.Samsung's LCD panel peer LG Display (LPL) is up 3.6% pre-market to $8.40. In January, LG had revealed its own plans to exit the LCD TV market by year's end due to dropping prices and abundant supplies.Last month, Samsung announced plans to invest $116B into the foundry
