GCTAY - ScottishPower orders $1.6B of offshore wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa

Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa ( OTCPK:GCTAY ) ( OTCPK:SIEGY ) said Wednesday it signed a £1.3B (~$1.6B) order with Iberdrola's ( OTCPK:IBDRY ) ScottishPower Renewables to supply 95 wind turbines for the East Anglia 3 offshore wind power project in the U.K. North Sea.

Ibderdrola ( OTCPK:IBDRY ) said the 14.7 MW turbines will have a combined capacity of 1,400 MW, generating enough green energy to meet the annual demand of 1.3M homes.

East Anglia 3 is the second of four projects planned in the ScottishPower Renewables 2.9 GW East Anglia Hub development in the North Sea.

Siemens ( OTCPK:SIEGY ) is a "quality industrial giant with solid prospects," LD Investments writes in an analysis published on Seeking Alpha .
