VOO - Smart Beta equity ETFs attract nearly $8B in June led by these dividend funds

Smart Beta equity-based exchange traded funds that are listed globally accumulated investor inflows totaling $7.88B throughout June, according to data compiled by ETFGI , an independent research firm.

The influx of capital to smart beta funds brought H1 net inflows to $84.57B, which was essentially $5B short of what smart beta equity funds pulled in during H1 of 2021. In 2021 smart beta equity ETFs garnered $89.56B.

Smart beta ETFs, also known as factor-based ETFs, are funds that use rules-based indexes that provide a low-cost way to access smart beta strategies.

Some popular smart beta strategies involve dividends, equal weightings, a value or growth focused agenda.

Dividend ETFs were among the most successful smart-beta equity strategies that have taken in the most capital in 2022. These funds provide a level of defense against market uncertainty which Wall Street has experienced in 2022.

See dividend smart beta ETFs below along with their capital inflows for June.

The Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF ( NYSEARCA: VIG ) +339.95M, Schwab US Dividend Equity ETF ( NYSEARCA: SCHD ) +985.32M, Vanguard High Dividend Yield Index ETF ( NYSEARCA: VYM ) +1.86B, iShares Select Dividend ETF ( NASDAQ: DVY ) +243.95M, SPDR S&P Dividend ETF ( SDY ) +392.87M, and the iShares Core Dividend Growth ETF ( DGRO ) +232.08M.
