MAXN - Solar names mostly take a break after opening YTD surge
Solar stocks ([[TAN]] -3.3%) trade mostly lower as the group pauses after its strong start to the year, driven by news that Democrats secured control of the U.S. Senate.Sunrun ([[RUN]] -0.7%), First Solar ([[FSLR]] -0.4%), JinkoSolar ([[JKS]] -0.5%), Enphase ([[ENPH]] -2.8%) and SolarEdge ([[SEDG]] -1.2%) are all lower ahead of the close, with all except RUN also closing lower on Friday, as some analysts started to talk about "euphoric sentiment."But not everyone trades in the red today, with [[SPWR]] +1.1%, [[MAXN]] +2.2%, [[CSIQ]] +0.4%.Alternative energy stocks display decidedly mixed results today: [[CLNE]] -4.5%, [[FCEL]] +2.6%, [[PLUG]] +0.2%, [[BE]] -1%.The Invesco Solar ETF of large-cap global solar stocks has surged 12.2% since the start of the new yea, easily beating the S&P 500's 3.4% advance.
