PRO - SpareBank 1 SMN : Jan-Frode Janson new Group CEO of SpareBank 1 SMN

Jan-Frode Janson (49) has accepted the position of new Group CEO of SpareBank 1 SMN. Mr Janson replaces Finn Haugan who has headed the bank for almost 28 years, and will take up duties by 1 May 2019 at the latest. 

- The Board of Directors is very pleased to have found a successor to Finn Haugan with considerable financial experience, a deep knowledge of the SpareBank 1 Alliance and splendid results. It was in addition important for the Board to find a chief executive with local affiliations to further develop the region's leading finance house, says Chairman of SpareBank 1 SMN, Kjell Bjordal. 

Mr Janson has for the past six years been Group CEO of SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge and, prior to that, Deputy CEO of Fokus Bank (Danske Bank Norway). 

- The position of Group CEO of SpareBank 1 SMN is probably the only job in Norway that could induce me to leave SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge. For me as a Trøndelag man born and bred, the opportunity to head up the region's definitively leading finance house and to work alongside 1,500 new colleagues is a great honour. I also look forward to being involved with a region in which I have great faith and with which I identify myself, says CEO-elect, Jan-Frode Janson. 

Mr Janson succeeds Finn Haugan, who has presided over SpareBank 1 SMN since 1991. 

- Finn Haugan has played a role of inestimable importance in building up SpareBank 1 SMN into a complete finance house with an indisputable position as profitable and solid market leader in the region. He has steered the bank through several crises, and takes much of the credit for the establishment of the SpareBank 1 Alliance, says Chairman Kjell Bjordal.
