It was another week for individual story stocks in the week's top gainers and losers among Communications Services names, though the sector as a whole reversed its fortunes from last week. The sector was the third-best performer on a strong week for the S&P 500 (up 1.33%), with the Communications names up 1.9% as a group, behind only the performance of Consumer Discretionary and Information Technology stocks. And earnings provided a couple of the week's top decliners (among large-cap stocks), while the breakdown of a potential merger brought another. Pinterest (NYSE:PINS) topped losers, down 23.1% for the week and legging down even before Monday began with news that PayPal wouldn't pursue an acquisition of the picture-focused social network.
