MPC - Strike ends at Marathon's St. Paul Park refinery as new contract approved
jferrer/iStock via Getty Images Union workers at Marathon Petroleum's (MPC) St. Paul Park refinery in Minnesota have approved a new contract, ending a five-month work stoppage. The local Teamsters union says its ~200 members will return to work July 6 at Marathon's 104K bbl/day refinery following their approval of a revised offer, after rejecting an earlier Marathon offer nine days ago. Marathon's improved offer included protections that limit the company's ability to subcontract work done by union workers, Teamsters Local 120 says. The company has continued operating the refinery with management employees from St. Paul Park and its other refineries since the union went on strike in January.
