SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR) is 8.2% higher after hours following word that it will be taking a place in the S&P MidCap 400 index. There the stock will be replacing Cimarex Energy (NYSE:XEC), which is set to be acquired soon by Cabot Oil & Gas, a member of the S&P 500. The index move is effective prior to the open of trading on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
