LGCLF - Sunrun slips as LG Chem recalls some batteries on fire risk

Sunrun (RUN) settled -4.5% in today's trade after LG Chem (LGCLF) said it launched a recall of some of its Resu 10H residential battery products due to a risk of overheating which could lead to fires and dangerous smoke.LG Chem said it received five reports of thermal events in the U.S. causing limited property damage but no injuries.The Resu has been a prominent player in the growing residential energy storage market, and a central component of solar installer Sunrun's build-out of solar-plus-storage, which reached 13K last month.The recall affects ~5% of Sunrun's BrightBox battery installations, Greentech Media reports.Sunrun's dominance in residential solar likely will be threatened by Tesla moving forward, Simple Investment Ideas wrote in a bearish report published on Seeking Alpha.
