NBC Sports (NASDAQ:CMCSA) reports that ads for the upcoming Super Bowl (set for Feb. 13, 2022) are nearly sold out. That news comes a day before the NFL season even opens, an indicator of robust health for one of television's biggest events looking to rebound from a COVID-19 ad slowdown. NBC has fewer than five 30-second spots left to sell, and some sponsors are agreeing to pay as much as $6.5 million - more than what NBC was reportedly seeking earlier this year ($5.8 million-$6.2 million per slot, and that was up from the $5.5 million CBS (VIAC, VIACA) sought for last February's game). But this year is seeing some returns from advertisers for automobiles and beverages, and notably from Hollywood vs. last year, when theaters were shut down.
