CMCSA - Tensions rise between Disney California with new park rules on way
Tensions between Walt Disney (DIS) and California over theme parks are ramping up, with the state's park operators bristling as new rules on their operations start to leak out. Disney Chairman Bog Iger has resigned from Gov. Gavin Newsom's COVID-19 recovery task force. That comes after some mild sniping from the company in recent days, including a mention of the state's "unwillingness to lift restrictions that would allow Disneyland to reopen" in Disney's recent memo over laying off 28,000 workers. And the California Attractions & Parks Association (a trade group representing Disney among others) has fired back at reports of the new rules on the way from the state - which would reportedly allow parks to reopen at just 25% capacity and limit visitors to those living within a certain distance from the parks (along with required reservations and mandatory masks). “While we are aligned on many of the protocols
