TX - Ternium weighs new $2.2B EAF steel plant in northern Mexico
Steelmaker Ternium ( NYSE: TX ) said Wednesday it is considering building a new $2.2B steel production plant near its current Pesqueria site in northern Mexico, as it moves to add steel supply into the region for its Mexican rerolling mill to meet trade agreement requirements.
The new electric arc furnace mill, which is planned for completion in H1 2026, would have a production capacity of 2.6M metric tons/year of slabs and include a 2.1M tons/year direct reduced iron plant and a port facility for raw material intake.
At Pesqueira, Ternium ( TX ) expects to commission a 550K tons/year pickling line in mid-2024, with a 1.6M tons/year cold rolling mill and 600K tons/year hot-dip galvanizing line planned to come on line by year-end 2025.
Ternium ( TX ) reported Q4 adjusted earnings of $0.20/share on revenues of $3.55B .
