EIDO - Tesla to trek to Indonesia in nickel hunt

Tesla (TSLA) is planning to send delegations to Indonesia next month to discuss supply chain investments.Indonesia President Joko Widodo has been vocal about the nation's plan to become the biggest producer of lithium batteries with its vast nickel reserves waiting to be tapped. The Ministry confirmed that Widodo and other government officials talked to Elon Musk about investment opportunities on Friday. Previously, Musk has said Tesla wants to offer a giant contract for a long period of time to mine nickel efficiently and in an environmentally sensitive way. Nickel was a big topic on Tesla's Battery Day event a few months ago. Tesla was reported to be in talks with BHP (BHP) for nickel in October. Tesla is up 629% YTD. On the other side of the trade is the sluggish IShares MSCI Indonesia ETF (EIDO) and soaring Nickel (LN1:COM) futures (see the chart).
