VST - Texas AG launches investigation of this week's power failures
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas - ERCOT - which oversees the state's electrical grid, and other power companies were issued Civil Investigative Demands by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today in an investigation related to power failures across the state during this week's winter weather disaster."I'm using the full scope of my Constitutional powers to launch an investigation into ERCOT and other entities that grossly mishandled this week's extreme winter weather," Paxton announced.In addition to ERCOT, CIDs were issued to AEP Texas (AEP), Calpine, CenterPoint Energy Services (CNP), Griddy Energy, La Frontera Holdings, Luminant Generation (VST), NRG Texas Power (NRG), Oncor Electric Delivery (SRE), Panda Sherman Power, Temple Generation I and Texas-New Mexico Power.ERCOT and AEP also face a new lawsuit over the power outages - likely the first of many.ERCOT said earlier today that it had returned to normal operations.
