T - Thriller 'Old' displaces 'Space Jam' as box office takes breather
Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images Entertainment Old (CMCSA), the latest thriller from M. Night Shyamalan, took the weekend's box-office crown from Space Jam: A New Legacy (T), though the totals look like a hitch in the story of a recovering summer blockbuster season. Old grossed $16.5M domestically, good enough to edge film Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins ([[VIAC]], [[VIACA]]), which drew $13.35M. And with drop-offs from the next two films on the chart - Black Widow (DIS), with $11.6M, and Space Jam, with $9.56M, it pointed to the lowest weekend at the domestic box office since before last month's opening of F9. Black Widow fell off 55% from last weekend, but that wasn't as far as Space Jam slipped (down 69% week-over-week). Black Widow has a cumulative three-week total of $154.8M for Disney, and a total of $314.9M worldwide - though recall that it's among the films getting day-and-date release simultaneously online
