VIAC - TikTok tops Google to become 2021's most popular website data finds
ByteDance's (BDNCE) TikTok has become the world's most popular website in 2021, surpassing Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL), according to newly published data. In a blog post, web security company Cloudflare (NYSE:NET) said that TikTok first took the top spot on February 17, but only for a day. Intermittently, it took the top in March and in May, but it wasn't until August 10 that it took the top spot on most days. "There were some days when Google was #1, but October and November were mostly TikTok’s days, including on Thanksgiving (November 25) and Black Friday (November 26)," Cloudflare wrote in the post. In 2020, TikTok, which recently said it would alter its recommendation algorithm, was ranked as the seventh most popular domain, indicating a significant jump in popularity since last year. Rounding out the top 10 most popular domains were Meta Platform's (NASDAQ:FB) Facebook, followed by Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Amazon
