The second half of 2025 is thus far off a better start than the first half. The SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) added 2.05% in August and is up 4.40% since July 1st. That is 3.03% better than its start to the year through month-end February. Vanguard's High Dividend Yield Index Fund ETF Shares ( VYM ) posted a more impressive gain last month of 3.77% , and it's beating SPY by 1 basis point since July 1st. My watchlist from the prior month finished August with a gain of 2.78% , placing it right in-between both benchmarks. However, since July 1st, the watchlist is up 4.58% and outperforming both SPY and VYM....
