Joseph Shekarchi, Speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, wants to give authorities enough time to consider proposals and to ensure that the proper structure is created around the state's prospective cannabis industry. In an interview with the Boston Globe's Rhode Island Report podcast, Shekarchi explained that he needs time to review the many "divergent" proposals regarding recreational marijuana and to guarantee that the state gets an adequate portion of the potential revenue.
