Toshiba (TOSBF) confirms it received a preliminary acquisition proposal, for which the company says it is giving "careful consideration" and will make an announcement "in due course."Japanese newspaper Nikkei reports CVC Capital Partners is considering acquiring the company at a 30% premium, or ~¥2T ($18B).Toshiba CEO Nobuaki Kurumatani served as chairman of CVC's Japan unit before joining the company.Toshiba was founded in 1875 and has been long revered as one of Japan's most pristine brands, but it has been dogged by ethical questions and mired in scandals in recent years.
