JHG - Trian Fund co-founder Ed Garden set to exit firm to leave Janus Henderson board

2023-06-02 09:37:43 ET

Trian Fund Management, the activist fund led by billionaire Nelson Peltz, confirmed that co-founder Ed Garden is set to retire as chief investment officer.

Garden, 62, who is the son-in-law of co-founder Peltz, plans to focus on his personal investments, while also serving as a senior adviser, Trian confirmed in an emailed statement, according to media reports.

Peltz's son Matt and Josh Frank, who were co-heads of research at Trian, will become co-chief investment officers. Brian Baldwin will be head of research.

Trian and Peltz are well known for their activist campaigns, most recently targeting Disney ( DIS ). Other companies Trian has engaged with in the past include Procter & Gamble ( PG ), H.J. Heinz, Dupont ( DD ), and General Electric ( GE ).

The Wall Street Journal reported Garden's departure plans on Thursday.

Garden's departure from Trian likely means he will be stepping off the boards that he serves on currently. Trian serves on the boards of General Electric ( GE ) and Janus Henderson ( JHG ).

Janus Henderson ( JHG ) announced on Friday that Trian's Garden resigned from the company's board and will be replaced by Trian's Josh Frank.
