Top host fired by Fox News ( NASDAQ: FOX ) ( NASDAQ: FOXA ), Tucker Carlson, is likely preparing for war against the channel by creating his empire, according to sources. Fox News stock had dipped after cutting out the star .

However, Carlson remains under contract with Fox News until January 2025, and the network has attempted to sideline him with a $20M per annum incentive not to work.

The former host had become Fox News' top-rated draw over time , with increasing sway over conservative political opinion.

According to Axios, Carlson has been contacted by other media outlets, including the right-wing Rumble ( NASDAQ: RUM ) and Newsmax which offered to pay him more than his current Fox contract. Conservative-focused video platform Rumble rose after the high-profile termination during the final week of April.

Axios says that Carlson may likely build a direct-to-consumer media platform and is also in talks with Elon Musk to join forces, though the specifics of the conversation were not disclosed. "Now, we're going from peacetime to Defcon 1," said an ally of Mr. Carlson, speaking to Axios. "His team is preparing for war. He wants his freedom."
