Fox News ( NASDAQ: FOX ) ( FOXA ) host Tucker Carlson released a statement following his high-profile ouster from the cable network, in which he criticized the current state of political debates on U.S. television, but did not mention his firing.
"When you take a little time off, you realize how unbelievably stupid the debates you see on television are," Carlson said in a video message he posted on Twitter. "They mean nothing. Trust me as someone who participated."
Carlson also took aim at the U.S. political system, saying it looks like a one-party state. "Both political parties and their donors have reached consensus on what benefits them and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it," he claimed.
Carlson ended his message saying, "see you soon", but did not talk about his future plans.
The former TV host had become Fox News' top-rated draw over time, with increasing sway over conservative political opinion.
Earlier this week, Fox News said the network and Carlson "agreed to part ways", a bombshell move that followed its $788M settlement of Dominion Voting Systems' lawsuit. On his last program, Carlson gave no indication that change was on the way.
