NLSN - Twitter Variety team up on trending TV rankings
Twitter (TWTR +2.4%) and entertainment trade publication Variety are making a small move into TV measurement (and the relative greenfield of streaming popularity measurement) with a team-up on trending TV rankings. The two will produce a chart rating the TV shows garnering the most tweets, across network TV and streaming shows. That will result in three charts powered by Twitter, showing the top 10 programs discussed on the social platform, analyzing day-to-day moves of the top three shows, and offering a heat map indicating geographic interest. Notably, the Advertising Week announcement adds that brands will be able to align with the content on Variety.com and Twitter through "innovative ad units and pre-roll."
