A U.S. appeals court on Friday stood by two earlier decisions by a patent tribunal that sided with Masimo ( NASDAQ: MASI ) in its intellectual property dispute with Apple ( NASDAQ: AAPL ) over pulse oximeter sensors in some Apple Watch models.
The decisions by the appeals court refer to findings by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office concerning the blood oxygen sensors, and comes at a time when Apple ( AAPL ) is separately fighting to overturn a ban on importing and selling newer Watch models.
In the two decisions, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said that it had "considered Apple's ( AAPL ) remaining arguments" and had not found them "persuasive."
The import ban on the Watch models is currently scheduled to be on pause until January 12 while Apple ( AAPL ) challenges it.
Last month, Bloomberg reported that the iPhone-maker was mulling a long-term software fix to allow for sales of some of its Watch models in the U.S. amid the patent dispute with Masimo ( MASI ).
Apple ( AAPL ) shares were marginally higher in Friday afternoon trade, while Masimo ( MASI ) stock was down 0.7% .
