CHEAF - U.S. ending COVID testing requirement for travelers from China

• The CDC is ending a requirement Friday that required travelers entering the U.S. from China to provide a negative COVID-19 test, Bloomberg reported.
• The U.S. implemented the policy in January amid a surge in COVID cases after the country eased its strict " Zero-COVID” policy in December.
• However, COVID cases in China have reportedly significantly dropped since then . As of Jan. 5, when the policy went into effect, China has a 7-day average of 26.4K cases. As of March 8, it reported no cases in its 7-day average.
• Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, which provided the data , noted that beginning on Dec. 12, 2022, Chinese health authorities said they would no longer include asymptomatic cases in its count. As a result, Johns Hopkins said that after Dec. 12, China's COVID case figures "may appear to decline significantly."
