The UK's Competition and Markets Authority has launched its inquiry into the potential acquisition of Xilinx (XLNX) by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).The CMA will accept comments on the merger until May 21.A decision is due by July 6 and CMA will then either approve the deal or recommend the launch of a phase 2 investigation.Related: In April, Xilinx and AMD shareholders voted to approve the $35B deal, which is expected to close before the end of the year.
