I've long been insisting that extended and expanded unemployment benefits have been pushing up the unemployment rate. Stands to reason after all.
Some evidence - states ending them at different times - says that I was wrong on this. It remains to be seen whether that evidence stands up over time.
If true though this means that we're not going to see a substantial and sudden drop in unemployment this fall. Adjust macro strategies to suit.
