United Insurance (NASDAQ:UIHC) on Monday proposed a reorganization plan to consolidate its 4 Florida-based insurers into 3. UIHC plans to seek regulatory approval to merge Journey Insurance into American Coastal Insurance. Journey's capital is expected to be redistributed between American Coastal, Family Security Insurance, and United Property & Casualty Insurance. "Our plan will allow American Coastal to focus exclusively on continued profitable growth in commercial lines while Family Security and United Property & Casualty focus exclusively on restoring underwriting profitability in personal lines," said UIHC CEO Dan Peed.
