MCS - Universal's 'Halloween Kills' to appear on Peacock and in theaters simultaneously
Add another film to the growing list of hybrid simultaneous online releases, as Universal's (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Halloween Kills - the latest entry in a venerable slasher franchise - will make a debut on Peacock on the same day it hits theaters. The movie, featuring Jamie Lee Curtis (who starred in the original horror hit Halloween in 1978), is a sequel to the 2018 revival Halloween. That later film became history's highest-grossing slasher pic. It's set to hit theaters Oct. 15, but it will also be available to Peacock Premium subscribers for no extra charge. (Those subscribers pay either $4.99/month or $9.99/month for the Premium tier.) In recent news about hybrid releases, WarnerMedia will be rolling out heavily anticipated sci-fi films Dune and The Matrix: Resurrections on HBO Max the same time as theaters, while Disney is scoring heavy box office for only-in-theaters film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
