UROY - Uranium Royalty Corp reports earnings - another curious case of uranium hoarding
Uranium Royalty Corp. (NASDAQ:UROY) reported earnings and detailed the Company's growing Uranium stockpiles. Having listed as a public company two years ago this week, UROY has since stockpiled 1.35m lbs of uranium, and has a contract in place to buy another 0.5m lbs from China General Nuclear Power Group. Royalties are a common financing mechanism in the natural resources space, whereby an operator sells a certain percentage of future revenue to a royalty investor; it helps provide capital to get projects off the ground, and provides investors with their desired commodity exposure. Uranium Royalty Corp owns several royalties; unlike many royalty corps none of their royalties produce revenue. The Company has effectively issued equity and borrowed money to build a very large uranium stockpile, and they are not the only ones.
