VIACA - Urban One jumps as IPG plans Black-owned media upfront
Micro-cap multimedia broadcaster Urban One (UONE) is jumping, quickly up 18.4%, alongside news that IPG Mediabrands is planning to direct attention (and advertisers' dollars) to Black-owned and Black-focused media businesses with a week-long upfront presentation. IPG's (IPG) Equity Upfront will highlight linear, streaming, digital, radio and print brands that have historically not drawn the same ad dollar share as other groups - including Allen Media Group/Entertainment Studios, BET ([[VIAC]] +2.5%, [[VIACA]] +2.7%), Essence Communications and Urban One. They'll get the chance to pitch Mediabrands clients including American Express, BMW, CVS/Aetna, Johnson & Johnson and others as they plan their fall season, Ad Age reports. Urban One's nonvoting Class D shares (UONEK) are also spiking, up 9.3% in recent minutes.
