IBDRY - Vineyard Wind asks U.S. to resume permitting process
Vineyard Wind, the developer seeking to build the first major U.S. offshore wind farm, says it has asked the new Biden administration to restart its permitting process after former Pres. Trump's government abruptly canceled it last month.Vineyard Wind - a joint venture between power company Avangrid (AGR), a unit of Spain's Iberdrola (IBDRY), and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners - says it notified the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management that the project would not need to conduct a review of the General Electric turbines it plans to use for the $2.8B project, the reason it had given for withdrawing its application in December. The project, planned 15 miles south of Martha's Vineyard, would provide electricity for more than 400K homes and businesses in Massachusetts and go into service in 2023.Earlier this month, Avangrid said it completed of all major permitting for the $1B New England Energy Connect project.
