Overview
The second quarter saw a torrent of macro news that impacted the equity markets including shifting tariff plans and ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Stocks fell sharply early in the period following the announcement by President Trump of U.S. tariffs that were far higher than anticipated. As market turmoil mounted, Trump placed a 90-day pause on his tariff plan, leading to a rebound in stocks. The rally continued as the quarter progressed as data indicated that global growth, inflation and corporate earnings all remained on track despite the uncertainty around trade. In addition, international equities entered the quarter with attractive valuations after years of weakness compared to U.S. stocks....
