Initial claims for regular state unemployment insurance totaled 362,000 for the week ending September 25, a rise of 11,000 from the previous week’s tally of 351,000.
Initial claims have risen for three consecutive weeks and four of the last six weeks, putting the latest week at the highest level since August 7.
The four-week average rose 4,250 to 340,000, matching the number from September 4th and breaking a string of six consecutive declines.
