• As inflation readings around the world come in well above targets, many central banks have sped up their plans to tighten monetary policy after years of historically low interest rates and bond purchase programs.
• However, the European Central Bank (ECB) is notably absent from the list of central banks that have implemented rate increases.
• In addition, the ECB has only committed to raising interest rates after it stops purchasing bonds in the third quarter of 2022. The ECB has added over €3.8T to Euro area balance sheets since March 2020.
