AUY - Yamana discovers new Wasamac mineralized zone sees 500K oz/year in Quebec
Yamana Gold (AUY -1.4%) says exploration at the Wasamac gold project in Quebec has defined an entirely new shear zone, and continued exploration success supports a production platform of 200K oz/year over a longer mine life of 15 years. The miner says the discovery improves the overall value at Wasamac, which has an approved development plan of an average of 169K oz/year over a 10-year mine life. At the Odyssey underground project, Yamana says successful exploration supports longer-term potential for higher production than the currently planned average of 545K oz/year from 2029 and for extending the mine life beyond 2039. Yamana says average annual gold production in Quebec, including production from Wasamac and the Odyssey underground at Canadian Malartic, has the potential to rise to ~500K oz. by 2028 and continue through at least 2041. Yamana is "performing exceptionally well both operationally and financially," and the stock's decline is not
