I've been covering a multitude of insurance and reinsurance businesses on both the European and North American sides of things for several years. Several major investments and profit "runs" that I've made have involved small, large or a combination of insurance companies. The key I've found to investing is similar to investing in any other company that I look at. I understand their business, I look at the valuation and the potential, or the lack of either, and I look at what sort of valuation the company's peers currently operate at.
