MONTREAL, QUEBEC – TheNewswire - January26 th 2021 – DundeeSustainable Technologies Inc. (“DST” or the “Corporation”)(CSE:DST) (CNSX:DST.CN) (OTC: DNDDF ) is pleased to announce that it has entered into anagreement with a Canadian gold developer (the “Developer”) toconduct arsenic vitrification test work using its GlassLockProcess TM ( “GlassLock” or the“Technology”) on legacy arsenic trioxide material from a goldproject located within the Abitibi Region of Québec (the“Project”).
DST and the Developer discussed the technical feasibility andinterest, by the Developer, to evaluate the applicability of theGlassLock Process TM onarsenic bearing roaster dusts from the Project. The Project is host toapproximately 2,500 tonnes of arsenic bearing dusts. The arsenicconcentration within the dusts is known to be between 40 and 60%,mostly in the form of arsenic trioxide. The arsenical dusts alsocontain a gold content up to 10 g/t of gold. The gold recovery will beinvestigated, qualified, and quantified as a mean of offsetting theremediation costs associated with the stabilisation of the arsenic. Aspart of the Developer’s environmental compliance plan/policy, thearsenic bearing dusts represent an important liability and there is arequirement for them to be safely and permanently remediated.
In December 2020, over 300 kg of the Project arsenic dusts werereceived at DST’s technical facilities for the test work program. The goal of this testing program is to identify the set of conditionsfor the gold recovery and the successful stabilisation of arsenicusing DST’s Technology.
The GlassLock Process TM ,developed and patented by DST, is designed for the permanentsequestration of arsenic in a stable glass form. DST successfullydemonstrated its Technology at laboratory, pilot and industrialscales. In these demonstrations, arsenical material was processedand generated vitrified arsenical glass, containing up to 20% arsenicwhile meeting the United States Environmental Protection Agency's(EPA) toxicity characterization leaching procedure (TCLP, Method1311).
The test work program has commenced in January 2021 and is expected tobe completed within an 8-week period.
About Dundee SustainableTechnologies, a corporation controlled by Dundee Corporation
The Corporation is engaged in the development and commercialisation ofenvironment-friendly technologies for the treatment of materials inthe mining industry. Through the development of patented, proprietaryprocesses, DST extracts precious and base metals from mineralisedmaterial, concentrates and tailings, while stabilising contaminantssuch as arsenic, which could not otherwise be extracted or stabilisedwith conventional processes because of metallurgical issues orenvironmental considerations.
DST has filed, published and was granted patents for both theGlassLock Process TM andthe CLEVR Process TM innumerous countries.
