Hyundai ( OTCPK:HYMLF ) and Kia ( OTCPK:KIMTF ) have issued recalls for more than 570K vehicles in North America, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday.
The agency advised drivers to park the recalled vehicles far away from buildings due to the risk that their tow-hitch harness module could catch on fire.
The recall affects Kia's 2022 and 2023 Carnival and Hyundai's 2019-23 Santa Fe, 2021-23 Santa Fe Hybrid, 2022 and 2023 Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid, and 2022 and 2023 Santa Cruz.
Hyundai ( OTCPK:HYMLF ) said it identified one report of a fire that may be related to the defect condition of a Santa Fe vehicle in the U.S., adding there are no confirmed crashes or injuries related to the condition in the U.S.
Hyundai Motor America ( OTCPK:HYMLF ) recently said it sold 9% more vehicles in February than in the same month last year .
