A judge may make a decision on the DOJ's lawsuit to block UnitedHealth's ( NYSE: UNH ) planned purchase of Change Healthcare ( NASDAQ: CHNG ) in October.
A decision is likely happen in October, Dealreporter said earlier Thursday, citing several sources familiar with the matter. One source told the publication that a judge could even rule as early as late September.
The parties are scheduled to present closing arguments in the case on Sept. 8 after a trial was held earlier this month.
Sources told Dealreporter that they believe the companies and the witness did well during the trial and they did a good job in countering the DOJ's objections to the transaction.
The DOJ argued that a 2021 internal audit of UnitedHealth's ( UNH ) data practices demonstrates that the health insurer's proposed acquisition of Change Healthcare ( CHNG ) should be stopped, Bloomberg reported last Wednesday.
In late April UnitedHealth ( UNH ) announced it agreed to sell Change Healthcare's ( CHNG ) claims editing business to TPG Capital for $2.2 billion in cash in an apparent attempt to help ease antitrust regulators' concerns about the deal.
The DOJ sued to block UnitedHealth's ( UNH ) $8 billion planned purchase of Change ( CHNG ) in late February.
