The Perils of Junior Mining Investment
Junior mining is a difficult sector to navigate, but like other types of aggressive investment opportunities, the greater risk comes with the potential for greater reward. Depending upon the stage of development, junior miners present a number of common hurdles, such as:
- Actually discovering an economic deposit - and one that is large enough to make it attractive to a major or mining financier
- Jurisdictional risk - governments changing the rules, poor infrastructure, conflicts with indigenous people groups, permitting issues
- Environmental opposition
- Financial risk - lack of investment capital
