Total active drilling rigs in the U.S. fell for the ninth week in a row, down by 8 to 674, the lowest count since April 2022, according to the latest weekly report from Baker Hughes.
The total rig count came in ~10% below the 750 rigs reported at the same time last year.
Drilling rigs targeting crude oil in the U.S. fell by 1 to 545, while gas rigs tumbled by 6 to 124 and 5 rigs were classified as miscellaneous.
Rigs targeting oil in the Permian Basin gained 1 to 336 while oil rigs in the Eagle Ford also added 1 to 60.
