Caprock Engages BBA E&C for an Updated Mineral Resource Estimate on Its Destiny Gold Project

MWN-AI** Summary

Caprock Mining Corp. (CSE: CAPR), a Canadian mineral exploration company, has engaged BBA E&C, an esteemed resource consulting firm, for an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) on its Destiny gold project in Quebec. This initiative follows Caprock's recent optioning of the Destiny property, which is located near Val D'Or and encompasses 127 mineral claims across 5,013 hectares. The updated MRE and associated technical report, adhering to National Instrument 43-101 standards, are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, with publication anticipated in early Q2 2025.

The Destiny project previously contained a historical MRE from 2011 on the DAC deposit, reporting an Indicated category of 364,000 ounces of gold and an Inferred category of 247,000 ounces based on older economic parameters that are now outdated. The update will utilize the results from approximately 10,000 meters of drilling conducted in 2020 and incorporate current gold price trends and costing estimates, with expectations that economic conditions have improved significantly since the original estimate.

Notably, the original estimate's methodology displayed robust consistency across three modeling techniques, suggesting a solid foundation for future modeling. The management anticipates that the DAC deposit has further mineralization potential along its strike and depth, along with opportunities to assess several other identified mineralized zones on the property.

Todd McCracken, P.Geo., and independent Qualified Person for BBA, who also oversaw the original estimate, brings over 32 years of experience to the project. Caprock is poised to announce a detailed multi-phased exploration plan for the Destiny project in the upcoming weeks, which reflects their commitment to advancing this promising gold resource.

MWN-AI** Analysis

As Caprock Mining Corp. (CSE: CAPR) prepares for the completion of an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) for its Destiny gold property, investors should note the considerable upside potential in the stock. The engagement of BBA E&C for this work signals a commitment to enhancing the project’s value, particularly given the historical resource estimates of 364,000 ounces Au in the Indicated category and 247,000 ounces Au in the Inferred category.

With the updated MRE due in Q1 2025 and a favorable gold price environment compared to the $973/oz used in the 2011 estimate, the new report could reveal significantly more attractive economic metrics. Importantly, the project's reliance on an experienced independent qualified person, Mr. Todd McCracken, who authored the original report, lends credibility and depth to the upcoming analysis. His familiarity with the site increases the likelihood of a reliable, comprehensive update.

Moreover, the management's confidence regarding the potential for resource expansion along existing mineralized zones, coupled with additional drilling data from 2020, suggests that the estimated resources could exceed prior assumptions. This creates further speculation around resource growth that may attract institutional interest, potentially buoying share prices in advance.

Investors may want to position themselves strategically ahead of the updated technical report, as such developments typically cause stock price movements. However, caution is encouraged; while the future seems promising, potential risks associated with exploration and fluctuating gold prices could impact outcomes. Thus, balancing an investment in Caprock with an awareness of industry dynamics and maintaining diversification could provide a prudent approach. Observing the company’s upcoming exploration plans will also be critical for assessing the risks and rewards associated with this opportunity.

Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - January 8, 2025) - Caprock Mining Corp. (CSE: CAPR) ("Caprock" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has engaged BBA E&C ("BBA"), a world-renowned resource consulting firm, to complete an updated Mineral Resource Estimate ("MRE") and accompanying National Instrument 43-101 - Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects ("NI 43-101") technical report (the "Technical Report") on its newly optioned Destiny gold property ("Destiny" or the "Project" or the "Property") located near Val D'Or, Quebec. The updated MRE is expected to be completed in Q1 2025, following which, the updated Technical Report is expected to be published in early Q2 2025.

Destiny hosts a near-surface, historical NI 43-101 compliant MRE published in 2011 on the DAC deposit (the "Historical Estimate"), which is just one of several mineralized zones identified on the Property through previous drilling, comprising the following gold inventory:

  • 10.8 million tonnes averaging 1.05 g/t Au and containing 364,000 ounces Au in the Indicated category; and
  • 8.3 million tonnes averaging 0.92 g/t Au and containing 247,000 ounces Au in the Inferred category.

(The Historical Estimate is based on the March 2011 NI 43-101 technical report on the DAC Deposit authored by Todd McCracken, P.Geo., who is an independent qualified person pursuant to NI 43-101 working for Wardrop and prepared for Alto Ventures Ltd., a previous owner of the Property. Management of the Company believes that the Historical Estimate is reliable based on the fact that it was prepared by a qualified person with extensive experience in Archean and Proterozoic gold deposits, working for a world-renowned resource firm. In order to bring this Historical Estimate to current relevance, the estimate needs to be re-generated using current economic parameters in the context of the current gold price environment and latest costing estimates. The key assumptions and parameters of the Historical Estimate are as follows: (i) drill holes used: 152; (ii) gold price of US$973/oz; (iii) strip ratio: 4:1; (iv) cut-off grade: 0.5 g/t Au; (v) FX Rate: 1.02 CAD - 1.00 USD; (vi) gold recovery: 94%; (vii) operating cost: $14.30/tonne; and (viii) operating rate: 10,000 tpd. Furthermore, the Company would like to note that the Historical Estimate's global block model statistics showed good agreement between all three separate modeling methods, including ordinary kriging, inverse distance squared and nearest neighbour. The Historical Estimate does not use categories other than the ones set out in Sections 1.2 and 1.3 of NI 43-101.)

The Historical Estimate was generated using a gold price of US$973/oz and a CAD:USD exchange rate of 1.02. The updated MRE will be generated in the context of the current gold price and exchange rates, which are much more favourable for overall project economics than in 2011. The updated MRE and Technical Report will also incorporate results from an additional ~10,000 m of drilling that was completed on the Project in 2020.

Management believes that gold mineralization is open at the DAC Deposit along strike, at depth and on parallel structures on the Property. This resource expansion potential is in addition to the potential to explore for, and establish, independent mineral resource estimates on four other mineralized zones that have previously been identified on the Property. Management plans to announce the details of its multi-phased exploration plan for Destiny in the coming weeks.

Independent Qualified Person

For the purposes of this engagement, Mr. Todd McCracken, P.Geo., of BBA, will act as the Independent Qualified Person (the "QP") as defined by NI 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects in accordance with the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. Mr. McCracken was also the QP for the 2011 Historical Estimate and technical report on Destiny, and hence, is very familiar with the Project.

Mr. McCracken has over 32 years of experience in mineral exploration, mine operations, resource estimation and consulting. Mr. McCracken's commodities expertise includes gold, base metals, nickel-PGE, lithium pegmatite, and vanadium. He has worked on projects across Canada and internationally. Mr. McCracken is an in-house authority on NI 43-101 standards at BBA, where he leads the Mining and Geology group that specializes in project management, QA/QC programs, due diligence reviews, resource estimations, mine design, ventilation, rock mechanics, preliminary economic analysis, prefeasibility studies and feasibility studies.
