On February 2, Columbia Financial ( CLBK ) announced its intent to acquire Northfield Bancorp ( NFBK ). Valued at just under $600 million , the deal could create one of the three largest regional banks headquartered in New Jersey. The transaction is being done in conjunction with a second-step conversion where CLBK will transition to a fully public stock holding company.
