Writing about Innospec ( IOSP ) earlier this year , I noted the risk that this specialty chemicals company could see increased pressure in its Performance Chemicals and Oilfield Services businesses, and that indeed has come to pass… and far more so than I expected. A strong customer shift to lower-margin products in Performance Chemicals has hammered margins, and weak production/stimulation volumes in Oilfield Services, coupled with the once-important Latin American business basically vanishing, have undermined that business as well....
