Copper Explorer Jumps on Deep Discovery in Yukon Territory

The global copper supply crisis continues intensifying as demand from electric vehicle production, renewable energy infrastructure, and AI data centers outpaces new mine development. With copper prices maintaining elevated levels above $4 per pound and major mining companies struggling to replace depleted reserves, junior exploration companies with high-grade discoveries in mining-friendly jurisdictions are attracting significant investor attention. Shares of Gladiator Metals Corp. ( TSX-V: GLAD )  ( OTCQB: GDTRF ) are advancing in Monday afternoon trading following the announcement of a significant new copper discovery at the company's Cowley Park project in Canada's Yukon Territory. The breakthrough came from the first drill hole targeting mineralization below 200 meters depth, revealing a previously unobserved 180-meter-wide zone of disseminated bornite and chalcopyrite hosted in altered granodiorite.

The discovery hole CPG-092 returned exceptional results including 55 meters grading 0.70% copper from 176 meters depth, with a higher-grade section of 21.9 meters at 1.27% copper from 199.1 meters. This new style of mineralization represents a significant expansion of the known copper system and demonstrates the substantial upside potential that remains untested at relatively shallow depths.

Gladiator's ongoing Phase 2 drill program at Cowley Park has consistently delivered impressive copper intercepts, including CPG-094 returning 70.5 meters at 1.13% copper from 95.5 meters, featuring high-grade intervals of 14 meters at 2.05% copper and 20 meters at 2.15% copper. These results continue to build on previous discoveries that included 98 meters at 1.49% copper with 14 meters at 7.67% copper.

The Whitehorse Copper Project encompasses a 35-kilometer-long high-grade copper belt on the western margin of Whitehorse City, providing excellent infrastructure access including proximity to highways and the main Yukon power grid. The area has a proven production history, with the Little Chief deposit producing 267.5 million pounds of copper, 225,000 ounces of gold, and 2.8 million ounces of silver between 1967-1982.

CEO Jason Bontempo highlighted the discovery's significance: "Gladiator's first drillhole targeting mineralisation below 200m at Cowley Park highlights the significant upside potential of the deposit which has still only been explored at relatively shallow levels. Significantly a new style of mineralisation was observed with disseminated bornite observed over more than 180m within the granodiorite, outside of the skarn."

The company currently operates two drill rigs at Cowley Park with a third conducting regional exploration, planning to complete at least 20,000 additional meters of drilling in 2025. Gladiator targets reporting a maiden NI 43-101 compliant copper resource by Q2 2026.

Canadian shares of GLAD are ahead 14.6% at C$0.94 in Monday afternoon trading, while U.S. shares are up 13.3% at $0.6743.
