PDX: An 8.6% Yield, 12% Discount, And Potential Recovery In 2026

Introduction:
Closed-end funds offer an attractive investment class that covers various asset classes and promises high distributions to income investors. They can also offer reasonable total returns if the distributions are reinvested, but generally lag the performance of the S&P500. So, they are not for everyone, but are particularly appealing to retirees and income investors. However, it will be best to diversify in 7 to 10 CEFs covering many different asset classes. The fixed income and credit securities is one of the important categories, and there is no better name than PIMCO group for this asset class. PIMCO offers many funds, but most command high premiums. One notable exception at this time is PIMCO Dynamic Income Strategy Fund ( PDX ), which is trading at a high discount. PDX is interesting in many ways. First, it is a hybrid fund with roughly 30% exposure to the energy sector and the rest to fixed income securities covering many different segments.
